Chiang Mai Thailand is the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand, and the capital of Chiang Mai Province. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is Chiang Mai's most important and visible landmark in the city. King Keuna built the Great the Temple in 1386. The temple is approached on foot by climbing a steep Naga staircase comprising 290 steps.

Chiang Mai Cultural Centre is located near Chiang Mai-Hang Dong Road. The cultural center has an excellent collection of Lanna Thai art, and displays of traditional northern culture.
